Units and Nurseries
Labor and Delivery Unit
The labor and delivery unit provides care to obstetrical patients, including high-risk pregnancies. The comfortable rooms are specially designed for birthing. Many feature advanced monitoring for babies needing extra attention. The unit includes two operating rooms equipped for handling both vaginal and operative deliveries.
Labor and delivery also provides care to postpartum pre-eclampsia/eclampsia patients who require more intensive monitoring.
Mother-Baby Unit
Our mother-baby unit is a special set of private rooms devoted to family-centered care. Here, you can spend time cuddling with your baby while a mother-baby nurse cares for both of you in the comfort and privacy of your own room. The nurses on the Mother Baby Unit also are specially trained to care for high-risk obstetrical patients, such as women with preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, pre-term labor, and other high-risk complications.
All of your baby’s care, including physical exam, screenings, and daily weight check, takes place in your room. The unit also has a highly trained lactation team that can help patients who desire to breastfeed. This personal attention gives you and your family the chance to ask questions and learn about the care of your newborn, so you’re prepared to care for your baby at home.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
As a Level IV facility, our NICU provides acute care for newborns with health problems, including those that require advanced ventilation (including ECMO) and advanced surgeries, such as open heart procedures to correct congenital heart defects. Our NICU features around-the-clock, specially trained physicians. In addition, all subspecialties, including pediatric neurology, infectious disease, gastroenterology, surgery, genetics, endocrinology, cardiology, and others are in-house 24 hours a day. The specially trained NICU staff includes neonatal nurse practitioners, nurse educators, discharge planning nurses, and social workers. Many of our registered nurses are certified in neonatal resuscitation and/or neonatal care.
